'A Nasty Surprise'

The idea is that I'll draw a quickie lines only sketch, taking no more than an hour or two, trying new styles, techniques and art packages. This will hopefully help me to develop a style suitable for making comics, and improve my ability to draw at speed.

For the fourth free sketch slot, ~Commander-June asked me to draw 'A Nasty Surprise'...

I racked my brains and decided to draw the surprise press release revealing Matt Smith's eleventh Doctor costume - an exaggerated beefeater uniform with suggestion of Mr Wimpy and accents of question marks - a literal je ne sais quoi!

For this one I went for speed not accuracy - I only used one brush and did very little correction. The drawing took 30 minutes, then another 30 minutes were spent squishing various parts of it so the nasty surprise wasn't that Matt Smith had gained 5 stone between casting and filming

Update: I've now spent almost as much time again slowly 'inking' in thicker lines that I would've got in the first place if I'd had the sense to use different brushes... I think it looks a bit clearer now...
