A chibi or 'super deformed' version of Dalek Thay. Drawn at the suggestion of :icon1010100100101:.

I was really worried about whether I could actually draw something with deformed proportions based on an ordinary source image. Then I realised that I usually do a lot of work to get the proportions right in my art, so I must be naturally inclined to deform everything I draw anyway ;)

The changes I made to the proportions were to increase the size of the 'bumper' up so it overlapped (and removed) an entire row of balls, increasing the length of the 'head' so it overlapped (and removed) the first 'rim', stretching the middle section somewhat, making the balls get larger towards the bottom, and increasing the size of the 'hands' and 'eye'.

This was actually supposed to be a quickie, but after drawing the lines roughly in one hour, it looked so good I spent a further 30 minutes tidying them up. The colouring then took three hours. Total time spent was therefore 4 and a half hours.

This was drawn at print resolution, the full size image is over 3600px high. I used a tablet PC. The lines were drawn with a fixed opacity, variable width brush and the colour was 'by eye' using the airbrush tool.

Hopefully the end result is suitably cute ...although I wouldn't recommend going in for a hug ;)

Disclaimer: I don't own Doctor Who, the Daleks or Dalek Thay. This is intended purely as fan art, I do not claim ownership of the show, characters or concepts.

END OF LINE
It's a chibi version of a Dalek the main alien monsters from the British science fiction series Doctor Who. The show started in 1963 (on the day JFK was assasinated). The Daleks have been in it since the 5th episode. The show has been broadcast on PBS stations since the 1970's and is currently shown on the Sci-Fi channel. It's still the most popular drama series in the UK and has won the Hugo award for the last 3 years. Wikipedia entries here [link] [link]

R2D2, you know better than to trust a strange computer!

Don't thank me for faves, browse a deviation by a stranger you like and fave it.
:D

Glad you like it!

You should watch out for that gun arm though, it's just as deadly even when super deformed ;)
